Directions:

a) If you are coming from Llandrindod Wells
On the A44 from Crossgates for Penybont, pass Texaco petrol station on your left, and stay on this road till you reach the Penybont turn-off, 1.4 miles later.
Before the main Penybont village, notice teh wooden bus shelter on the right hand side, and turn right into that road. It is called Cefn Llys lane and is not sign-posted. From that point, the Dortry is exactly 2.5 miles.

b) If you are coming from Knighton : You will know you are near Penybont by the cattle grids and the dangerous wild sheep that cross the road everywhere trying to get ran-over. You will leave the Common over the kettle grids, and come into Penybont. When you get to the T junction, the Severn's Arms pub opposite, take a right on the A44.
You will then pass Thomas's tearooms and shop and a few houses; 50 yards later, you will go over a river bridge, and you will see a road on your left hand side, which you will turn into. It is called Cefn Llys lane but is not signposted. From that point, the Dortry is exactly 2.5 miles.
If you pass the wooden bus shelter on your left hand side, you have gone too far and will have to turn around and follow the instructions in a).

c) If you are coming from Kington: on the A44 you will come into Penybont via the common land, and will be careful of the wild sheep crossing the road; and you will leave the common passing the grids. Coming into Penybont, you will pass the Severn's arms on your left hand side, then Thomas' tea rooms and shop, and 50 yards later, you will go over a river bridge.
Straight after the bridge, you will see a road on your left hand side, which you will turn into. It is called Cefn Llys lane but is not sign-posted. From that point, the Dortry is exactly 2.5 miles
If you pass the wooden bus shelter on your left hand side, you have gone too far and will have to turn around and follow the instructions in a)

From that point:

Proceed following Cefn Llys lane, past the new housing estate, following this road all the way. 1.4 miles from the Penybont's turn off, you will reach a greyish-white, railway looking and low, metallic river bridge. 0.1 miles later, take the next right turn up the hill, which is sign-posted to the "Eglwys Cefnllys Church" and "Brynthomas Lodges".

Pass the isolated, modern red brick property with horses in its surrounding fields which is called Brickyard Cottage, and, 1.9 miles after the run-off, after a 90degree curve to the right, up the hill, take the first left, up a single track lane which you follow.
It is not signposted to anywhere, but on the right side of the lane starting is a wooden telephone pole. This track goes through our closest neighbour's farm (his name is Gary Powell if you get lost and need to ask someone - most people would know who he is).

Continue up, past his farm, to the end of the lane and the Dortry is at the very top end of the tarmac lane, on the left hand side, a big oak tree at its gates.
The distance is exactly 2.5 miles from the Penybont turn-off, to the courtyard of the Dortry.
You cannot miss the Dortry as if you carry on up and the gates are open, you will not be able to go very far due to the holes in the road.
