About

Welcome to our website! We are Alexandra Pechabaden and Barry Pick, Barry does the wood cutting, the building work, the furnitures, the Welsh Cakes (or I will make madeleines!) and helps with the cottage preparation. Alexandra (myself) does the website, soft furnishing, ideas, decoration.

Here is a video from the Green Tourism introducing the Dortryb and us, it can be found at that link: http://youtu.be/p7hihs-JLp4

The Dortry is one of the two houses of what is known as Twisty-Bach. Our home, down and across the grass to the Dortry, is far enough for privacy. We will welcome you at your arrival and late arrivals are not a problem.

There is plenty parking space just in front of the cottage.

What you will find in the Dortry:

Upstairs:

A large solar room, with an oak four poster bed built by Barry Pick (landlord!) and bed curtains by Claude Pechabadens (regent!)
A large antique chest thrones at the back of the bed, and antique furniture furnishes some parts of the room. It is precious, so please be careful with the furniture, there are many tea-costers downstairs in the oak cupboard.

There is a couple of comfortable armchairs around the TV area.

A Dvd player is available as well as Freeview Tv; a set of DVD's of our favourite films (some in French !!) and a small library with varied books.
No need to insist on the views from the upstairs windows which are beautiful. (there are 4 "aspects" or windows to this room, one on each wall)

Downstairs:

Oak Beams show throughout. The stairs are quite steep and are unfortunately not suitable for a guest with walking difficulties.

Separate bathroom with bath and shower, wash-basin, toilet, window, hairdryer

Separate kitchen with electric hobs and oven, an A grade fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, microwave (unfortunately! - see our Natural living page for explanation of this comment) and all that you could need in a holiday kitchen, pans and frying pan, plates, cuttlery, ice-cube trays, oven dishes, champagne glasses, mugs, clean Tea-towel, oven miter, etc...

A wood-burner will welcome you in the corner of the living room; initial wood is included in the price (£5 thereafter for every bucket of wood or you can get your own from local shops)

A small and cosy sofa for 2 faces the chimney.

A table with 2 chairs is nearby with the view on the hills.
There is also in this room a magazine stand with some of our favourites, and a radio-CD player near the door.

A big oak cupboard, also made by Barry, will catch you if you fall down the stairs. When you get tired of the Tv (which isn't difficult), or the Dvds or have read all the books, in this cupboard you will find your evening's entertainment: board games, card games, and jigsaw puzzles! When was the last time you played a game?

Central heating is included in the price (on a timer); hot water is fed by a combi-boiler so is always available. Electricity also included; kitchen towels, toilet paper also. Bed linen and towels too.
Outside is an olde garden table which you are welcome to use, in between the Dortry and our home, and there is a Barbecue 'facility' which Barry will be delighted in showing you if you wish.

The use of a washing machine is available if you have an urgent wash when you are coming for a week's holiday: it has been relocated to our home but we will be only too happy to let you use it (Ecover washing powder oblige!), and you can either hang it in the wild garden or on hanging devices.

A pet is welcome to stay with you, at the extra cost of £10; though dogs are to be kept on a lead when outside, as we do keep animals.

A travel cot is available -for an infant if you wish to bring one.

The Dortry and its property is also the home of many energetic-geopathic lines; none fortunately cross the building itself, but there is a green energy line passing just under the Oak tree, as well as an entity which has been seen (probably because of the line) near the gates, by one of our sensitive guests.
There is also a blind spring in the Orchard just above the Dortry, which we plan to put a seat onto; it is extremely good for recharging and letting go of temporary negative emotional states.

There is nothing negative feeling or threatening about any of the presences that are here on the property; fairies are also about in this part of Wales and if anything, we often blame them for odd and happy tricks we come accross, in our life there!

We both have a strong interest in what is called paranormal (which isn't that unusual at all, and shouldn't be called like that!) and esoteric matters; but again, it is a personal choice and it is for each of us to discover what resonates true to our hearts.
